Citation II and/or Marantz 8b

I have a Citation II which I love. I've been tempted recently to try a Marantz 8b. What are some of the sonic differences between the two? I'm not interested in a pristine, collector's 8b rather I'd like one that sounds great and has been appropriately upgraded (caps, etc.). I don't have the expertise to do much of my own work and don't know of a technician close by whom I can trust. How much should I expect to pay for such an animal?
