3 dB is a theoretical minimum loss. You will lose more than that; I'd guess 5-6 dB. The switch that Hoosier Audio recommends is better, but you'll still lose a couple of dB. How about using a buffer amp, also called a distribution amp? Some of these are made for outdoor installation. You could also make your own. They're nothing more than an rf op amp with set for unity gain or, more simply, a cathode/emitter/source follower.
