hi Chris,Tks for the diagram! The original circuit is similar to yours, except with 12AU7, and 56K on the first Au7's plate, and the seond 12AU7 has 27K at both the plate and cathode with the plate driving the 2A3C. The sound is a bit boring, I guess this is also the usual 12AU7 character.
My circuit is now the same as using the same tube, with ECC803S TS re-issue, to drive the 2A3c directly. 200K at the plate and 2K at the cathode. The 2K is after some listening test in which I varied from 1K up. The sound is very dynamics, clear, and comfortable. Now I can tell what the sound of triode is like, very clean and tuneful, diff from the pentode.
With 345V and 63 ma bias, 820 ohm cathode R in my case, wonder how long will this Shuguang 2A3c last! Perhaps I will try to reduce the dissipation to 18 watts and see how. The last time I tried, the sound became thinner...best rgds
