I've been doing a lot of tube construction lately and found that using a larger wattage gun (100-150 watts) enables me to make better connections that my 30 watt (or so) pencil iron. The higher temperature seems to "eat through" corrosion/oxidation on the NOS tube socket pins and components (even after cleaning them as best I could) leaving a beautiful, "bright" joint.Thoughts/Comments???
