I use my 14 year old son who is a musician & trained to listen to audio since 4 years old. Simply, his ears are better than mine. Immediate & precise, he gets it right away.The unbalanced temperature wise tubes placed on one side of the PPP circuit produce more distortion (more fuzzy) per his ears. The difference is not as much as a change from a second best preamp tube to the best preamp tube, but clearly accountable producing better sonics with temperature matched tubes.
I should add, these amps are very clear sounding without that warm tube sound. I doubt one could hear the difference on a vintage Dynaco Stereo 35 with some upgrades.
