Folks:I would like to build a tube amp from scratch. I have worked from kits or PCBs in the past, but this time I'd like to try my hand at point to point wiring in a stereo chassis (I have the chassis already, so monoblocks are out). My speakers are Meadowlark "Hot Rod" Kestrels, which are 89db efficient and prefer at least 15 or 20 watts. My current amp is an AES SuperAmp Signature, which provides 20 watts in triode mode.
What I am looking for is a great sounding amp -- it has to be better than the SuperAmp. Money isn't a big consideration (no, I won't be buying transformers wired with silver), but simplicity or ease of construction is a concern. This will be my first try at reading a schematic, so overly complicated designs are not wanted. A parts list is very important -- I don't have the skills to figure out the value of every component part.
Your recommendations would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Scott

- Absolutely agree - sounds even better using DHT drivers (nt) - fgi 22:00:26 03/06/06 (1)
