My rule of thumb is don't bypass coupling caps unless you want a nonhomogeneous "hi-fi"-ish sound. Pairing caps with two different "sounds" does not give you the best of both; moreover it often creates new problems if the caps are of different construction and therefore have different electrical characteristics, e.g., if one is faster than the other you will get smearing. Instead, experiment with coupling caps per se until you find one cap of one value that you prefer over others. For me, that's teflon film and foil.
