The Darling is a wonderful amp; unfortunately the increasing popularity is driving up the prices of the 8532 driver and 1626 power tubes (hey, they are now up in the 5-10$ range per tube!;)Actually, these are excellent tubes. I do not know why the 8532 did not gain popularity before. It is the mil version of 6j4. I guess because the 6j4 are pretty microphonic - at least the ones I tried.
I have a double DC Darling (PSE, two 1626 per channel), and it can crank out even full scale orchestra with the 96-97db efficient speakers. The sonics of the 1626 tube are pretty close to the 2a3, but at a fraction of the price. If you have efficiency in the 100dB range, you need only a milliwatt for average listening levels.
Good luck, long live DIY!
