I had fun building my Aikido but a lot of the fun is in the tube rolling after it's built. Have you considered using a 6fq7 which is a 9 pin mini and is a 6sn7 equivalent electronically? If your filament supply is 6.3v and not sensitive to current draw, you can then roll in many many different tube types. Keep the left and right channels in separate tubes so that you can AB test different tubes. You will need a balance pot to AB different tube typrs. If you asked me now which tubes that I ended up with, it aint over yet!
