You said the manufacturer offers amorphous as an option. Does that mean he offers the same bobbin on two different (same size) cores? If so, maybe he'll let you try both and return the ones you don't want. The added advantage is that you'll get to experiment with different gaps to see what sounds best in your particular application.I know, I know, some will now argue that the designer knows best and can optimize everything for the best performance with a certain core, gap an so on. Despite that argument, people that have actually had the opportunity to experiment VERY often find that the designer’s initial choices were not necessarily ideal for them.
Anyway, it's not nearly as unreasonable as it might seem at first to swap one C core with another. If your manufacturer's operation can accommodate it he might be happy to let you try both, especially if he can learn from something from your experience.
