Hi everyoneI realize this might be a bit of a strange question but I thought I'd ask anyway.
I'm wondering if these two designs/ideas could be 'fused' together and work. The first one is a single-triode RIAA stage which looks very simple - I don't know much about electronics at all, and I'm certainly NOT going to start fooling around with real tube circuits @300+ VDC

That's (allegedly) an originally tube-based circuit which appears to have been essentially replicated using a +9V supply and JFETs instead of triodes.
The 'method' by which whomever did it arrived at the final design is outlined very roughly here. Specifically- 'We took the [tube amp] schematic and copied it part for part using MPF102 JFETs in place of each tube stage. Each tube Grid was replaced by a JFETs Gate. The tube Plates were analogous to a JFET Drain. Finally, a tube Cathode was replaced with a JFETs Source. We used a 100k trimmer for the plate resistors on the schematic due the fickle nature of JFETs and the much lower power supply involved.'
I did build the smaller of the two circuits and it does indeed work, and appears to sound 'fine' (sound comes out the other side, at the very least).
So to get to the point, I'm wondering if I could take that first circuit above (triode RIAA stage), put a JFET where the triode is and a 100k trim-pot instead of the 10k plate/drain resistor, adjust it so that the drain sits at 4.5v and expect the circuit to work at all.
I'd truly appreciate and kind of advice
