I also modified it to use 50 tubes. You need to use the 5K primary tap and disconnect the negative feedback along with using a 1k cathode resistor to adjust the self bias.
Are you using 2 half wave rectifiers or full wave? I don't quite understand.
Yes,it would be much easier with a larger chassis.
