Your off to a good start & keep the EL84 tubes.Higher voltage- Mullard GZ34 should boost B+ about 30 volts or so. Use a higher value dropping resistor for keeping voltage the same at the 12AX7 or do not exceed the existing 12AX7 B+ voltage by much.
Tubes- EL84 is good as long as the tubes are GE 6BQ5/EL84 188-5 code grey plate & are a common as feas on an outdoor dog. Other EL84s fall far short of the GE performance. An alternate with a socket wiring change are the GE 6GK6- same tube, different pinout. 12AX7 are full of options. An inexpensive Mullard short plate are good & the more expensive Mullard 10M long plate are better.
Capacitors- Try some Russian PIO coupling caps. Replace the existing electrolytic power supply capacitor(s) for long service life. If the EL84s & 12AX7 have a cathode bypass capacitor, change that to a polypropylene type.
