What in the world are those two sandstone ( looks like about ten watt ) resistors doing in there??Are they the 12K plate load resistor for each half of the ECC88?
If so, that is FAR too low of a quality resistor choice for that part of the circuit. I'd change it to a 12 watt 12K ohm Mills NI ( from Percy ).
