Hi.in theory as per textbooks & in general practice. I don't dispute this fact.
But in the sticky case of 6C33C SE when it is operating at pretty high Wp, I just want to point out a word of precaution. An increase of 20V AC line voltage can cause an upsurge of 20mA Ip !!!!!!!! This will overpower the tube's already very high Wp.
If the fixed bias can't react FAST enough to off set the hugh Ip jumping up momentarily due to the AC line voltage jumps up which is quite possibly due to the charging & discharging time of the bias
voltage large filter caps, given an unregulatged B+, something got to be done.That's why I bring out one effective way of adding a zener diode in
SERIES, not shunting, of the -ve fixed bias voltage PS upstream of the dropper resistor.Hope I've made things clear now.
