WE tend to forget that the line voltage was 110 or 115vac back then so that equates for the difference in the output.As cheap as 5u4s are today on ebay and being its only a small amount its not a concern.As a matter of fact you will probably have less of a drop across the rectifier because the tube will conduct a little more.
