Hello Jose,>> 1. What circuit (schematic) did you use as the starting point for your build?
The circuit is my own, but it’s about as simple as it gets because I wanted to understand what was going on in the circuit rather than just blindly follow a schematic.
>> 2. Are the current meters on all the time?
The meters are not like normal current meters, they operate in a shunt arrangement like a voltmeter, which means they can easily be switched to different parts of a circuit. In series with the meter must be a resistor that is 150 times larger than the known resistance it shunts (so very little current actually flows through the meter), I used a small cermet pot for this purpose which, after measuring the actual values, allowed me to calibrate the meter precisely using the pot. I have a switch that allows the meters to be switched between the driver tubes and the output tubes or switched off, but with this type of meter I cannot hear any negative effects when they are switched on.
>> 3. What material is the grey front panel? It’s actually a quality birch ply that has been primed and sprayed with a fine metallic automotive paint. Spraying from a good distance gives a nice fine textured finish.
Regards,
Steve
