RE: Modification of a Heath W5-M - Help and advice

DO NOT increase the plate voltage. DO NOT
run the plate current at the "stock" level
either!

REDUCE... BOTH. Also, sonically-- vacuum tube
rectifiers trash solid-state devices unless you
have an extensive knowledge of how to clean-up
solid-state power-- this doesn't mean large
capacitor values, it means extensive use of R.F.
chokes and the use of expensive small-value
ultra-high-end capacitors.

You want great sound? Use better wiring, better parts,
and lower voltages. STOP going after WATTS. Instead,
go after CONSERVATIVE operating parameters.

Mathematical calculation and online charts and
graphs are one thing..... Reliability and GREAT SOUND
are ANOTHER thing.
