Does this power supply feed everything in the amplifier? If so, B+ won't exist until some time after the relay closes (it requires time for the filter caps to charge). That should prevent a large transient from being amplified. OTOH, you might experience a significant "pop" when turning it off. As another poster suggested, it would be wise to test all this with a switch first.
