I agree that a good old analog scope is the best choice for audio use. My experience with buying one off of Ebay, however, has been a disaster.

I first purchased a Tektronix 5103 with associated plug ins. That worked for a few hours, then died. Then I purchased a HP180D, which was DOA. However, I was able to salvage the plug ins (1801A vertical, 50 MHz and 1821 time base). I purchased a reconditioned HP180D main frame from ValueTronics, which works great. So I now have an excellent 50 MHz analog scope that cost about $150. It's much better quality than any new scope analog scope than you could purchase for that price.

I would hikely recommend a HP180 series scope, but not from Ebay.
