Ah - the Dynaco 70... all of the modifications listed are worthwhile...I still have my first '70 I first bought in 1989 and have modified it to use the SDS Capacitor board, the Triode Electronics input board, etc. It did make it a much better amplifier with more apparent power, bass control, extended treble, etc. Some of the 'magic' is lost when modifying these amplifiers - ie, the classic uber-warm 'tube' sound that some prefer.
Even with the modifications, the amplifier always has a slightly compressed sound that I found annoying with some types of music. Perhaps an increase in current ability with a bigger transformer would have helped. The best I've ever heard my '70 was when I threw in a set of EL38s(!!) w/ top-plates and had them biased pretty deep into class B (that's all I could bias them down to without changing the stock bias supply). My '70 is on loan right now so I haven't had much time to play with it further.
