Re: Michael Samra, Dukane amps?

Steve, I just put a pair in the system, and I was quite surprised how good they sound, they were just basically put up to working condition with little in the way of mods or upgrades, however, my thord one will be getting more in the way of upgraded parts. I find teh bass to be pretty good, and the high end to be quite nice and extended, although a bit coarse at this point, no doubt due to the new solens breaking in. I would think the OPT is too small for good bass, however, it beat the pants off of both of my ARC d90 and d70mk11 amps, no contest there. My main amps are stock altec 128b's and that is where the rubber will meet the road, so to speak. I would be curious to hear other user's crtique of these amps, and any mods that could be useful, if these amps are worth doing that to. My system includes the audio refinement pre5 and a pair of athena as-f2 speakers, no doubt some weak links, but when I get my speakers upgraded (esl-57s?) then it may be easier to get a truer idea of the quality of these amps. Right now, though, pretty good sounding stuff! (BTW, probably looking to change the 12au7s to 6cg7s in the future to see any improvements that may bring...)
