Hi,

You haven't done anything wrong that I can see.

Drop your cathode resistor down to a lower value. You may want to do it in stages to see what value has the best sound. 560ohms is good place to start.

I've used 560ohms in a SE amp that had a plate voltage of 480. The EL34 was running hot at 28W - I had no problems and the sound was very good.
