Mikey answered regarding output transformers (~5k impedance SET for 45 SET vs. ~15k to 20k impedance for a 26). I am wondering if the question concerns filament supply or plate supply? Filaments for 26 need 1.5 volts at 1.05 amps, for 45 need 2.5 volts at 1.5 amps. I looked around for something that could provide 1.5v and 2.5v, so I could experiment with various 26, 45, 46 and 47 arrangements, AC powered with hum cancelling, but never found anything. 1.5volts AC is not a common spec these days for a filament transformer.Gelatomonster may not want AC for the filaments in any event. DC gives you some flexibility in picking a transformer to power the filament circuit, assuming you don't go with batteries.
