You can have it higher, for example 4 times Rp, which will result in lower output power but lower distortion, too.Making a pentode output stage and then changing it to triode may not be the best idea. Triode input impedance must be lower than pentode, so driver requirements are different. But if you design the driver so that it is capable of driving a triode, it will be usable in both circuits.
