All cross country power transmission is by Aluminum cable with a steel core. Copper is too costly and too weak for that job.Sheesh, it's not as if Al is a bad conductor of electricity. Al rates #3. Silver is #1 and Copper is #2. If micro diodes are a source of consternation, Al wiring should be to your liking. Aluminum oxide is an insulator, not a semiconductor, like Copper oxide. Rubies and Sapphires are Aluminum oxide colored by trace impurities. The gemstones don't conduct and the "pure" oxides doesn't conduct too.
