Home Tube DIY Asylum

Do It Yourself (DIY) paradise for tube and SET project builders.

Use Hammond 60henry chokes...

to feed EACH first stage of your amp. They are only about $10
each from Antique electronic supply. If you feed your first stage
200UF filter cap with one of these, then you will attenuate such
LF transients to a great degree. Remember, those little 60H
Hammond chokes are pretty high resistance (about 2.7Kohms, if
I recall) and so you will have to acommodate for this to keep
your supply voltages where you want them --usually just downsizing
or eliminating whatever dropping resistor you are initially using
to feed the first stage filter cap.

-Or- you could use VR tubes --but this requires more involved
calculations.

The little chokes work like gangbusters, you will thank me.

Just keep 'em away from the PS trans, OPTs etc, and remember:
use two chokes, one for each individual channel's first stage.

Keep me posted.
