you consider wood. If you want to go the "flexy rack" route, maple bucther block is popular. Light and rigid is in at the moment along with constrained layer dampening though.The granite could be used for lots of stuff like, a turntable support, or a speaker stand (I'd vote for a wet bar:). Do not put the center channel speaker on the equipment rack!
