Interesting you say the hum is 2nd harmonic. I use a balanced DHT line stage with the DHTs in push pull with OPT, and CCS under them, and I've had very little hum and microphonics. Any time I've tried SE it's been much more noisy. I use a ronanreg type filament supply (current source). Admittedly it's more expensive on the tubes, but balanced right through the line stage and amp with DHTs pretty much guarantees low noise, so that's one headache gone.
