it is important to note that placing both chokes on a common core greatly reduces the effect of the common mode noise reduction.Essentially with two discrete 5hy chokes you get 10hy of of DM(ripple) and 5hy of CM reduction. Placing two 5hy bobbins on a common core nets you 20hy of DM reduction and only a few mhy of CM reduction (whatever the leakage inductance happens to be)
