It is sort of a "self biased" circuit, the bias (0.55mA*29ohm=16mV) is nothing to talk about so the curcuit is very prone to the tubes catodecurrent properties avound bias nill.
I guess that was why it actually should use a tube namned VF14m which is sort of a selected VF14, and that - rumour is - the rejection rate on VF14m was really high for the curcuit.
It almost looks like a "electrometer" curcuit or something (high ri, low noice and power driven), so I guess one could sub it with a suitable tube for such usage :-)mvh /Pär
