I have 6.3V AC heaters in my preamp right now, and I can't seem to shake the hum.Can I hook up a 6V lantern battery to my 6SN7 heaters, purely for testing purposes to try out DC heaters?
What kind of current draw can lantern batterys handle? How many might I need for 4 6SN7s?
If it eliminates the hum without dimming that "alive" sound I'm getting from the AC heaters, I'll figure out how to put a higher voltage filament transformer and feed that to DC rectification....
