I noticed another problem with the B+ PSU. Ignoring losses, the DC O/P voltage of a choke I/P filter is approx. 0.9X the AC RMS voltage. The 240-0-240 V. of the Hammond 270X is INSUFFICIENT. Use a Hammond 373DX (350-0-350) and tweak the value of the resistance in the final RC section of the PSU filter to get the voltage you want.
