I'm extremely happy with Chris Found's VDAC-4, which has two boards - the digital one and the tube analogue output stage. I would, however, make one modification, which is what I've done myself, which is to replace the indirectly heated valves in the output stage (choice of 6N1P, 6922 etc) with DHTs. Chris can help with this mod himself using his existing output stage board, or you can do it yourself. I just used the digital board and built my own DHT stage. I believe that DHT small tubes are so clearly superior to indirectly heated ones in terms of clarity and tone that I've stopped using indirectly heated small tubes. I listen to classical music a lot and acoustic jazz (ex-pro musician) so clarity and tone and faithful acoustic instrument timbre are my priorities. Andy
