Actually I thought so too originally. I would use the coolers and simply leave them be. One day I touched the cooler while playing and I noticed a noticeable increase in the upper frequency sound quality. I believe the coolers picked up a charge and retain it affecting the tube. Shortly after I started grounding the cooler. a Chinese customer showed me a Chinese magazine where the owner of a unit using the coolers claimed that it sounded better if he pushed the coolers so that it touched the metal chassis.
Try it and I believe you will be surprised.
