For fastening a steel cover or chassis, stainless fasteners may be OK, but you have to be careful with mixing some stainless types with other metals because they may be far apart on the galvanic series. More than once, I’ve seen stainless screws “eating away†at aluminum chassis, a typical example. The screw was OK because it is was more “nobleâ€, but there was white aluminum oxide powder under the screw since the aluminum is anodic. Especially in humid environments, dissimilar metals will create a corrosive layer that just can't be good for sound. This would matter more here in Florida than in Phoenix, however. Just another consideration…
