Hi ,
What good will a fuse be ? If a fuse could react in the correct manner , Leak would have used one . Right ? A fuse does NOT react to heat . The resistor is there to thermally protect the mains transformer . Start fitting fuses and chokes and you are asking for trouble . To recap1. Fitting a low DCR choke in place of the resistor as prescribed will increase the HT , in turn the valves will draw more current and the strain upon the mains transformer will increase .
2. The resistor is there to thermally protect the mains transformer
3. The mains transformer is under rated !So think about what you are doing ! Leak built these amps to a price , the output transformers are good but the mains transformers marginal
If you absolutely MUST fit a choke , fit a thermal cutout to the mains transformer
cheers
