I picked up an Akai m-8 reel to reel tape player at a garage sale this weekend because it had two tube amps. One for both right and left channels. I have been wanting to get into tubes and the vintage route seemed affordable. This looked like a good way to either get my feet wet or a baptism by fire. I know nothing about electronics but want to learn the basics of tube amps and repair/maintain 70â€™s ss equipment.
Where do I start? One channel is missing a tube but the others all glow. I bought two Radio Shack RCA mono phonojack-to-male RCAs and two mono phono jacks to go to speaker wires.
Posted this in tubes and vintage but advised to move here. Also would appreciate any good tube primer reading for a newbie.
