I have two questions. I went to a local Book sale which is a week long held every year at our local mall. Anyway this year came and I picked up song more vinyl for $1 each. More to add to the collection. Anyway I got talking with an older guy there and he knows a fair bit about Jazz and Blues music. He made me up a couple tapes for me to listen too which I got today. Music aside I notice his tapes the levels were a lot lower then I would normal tape them at. Hovering around -10db on the levels of my Sony deck. It was close to the double Dolby marker which makes me think he set his recording to not go over the Dolby marker. Anyway is this typical of older decks to go to that level and not over when recording? What is the point of the Dolby marker? I decided I was going to make him up some tapes later on, but I want to make sure his deck can take the high levels my deck can record at. I will use Dolby B on his tapes.
Second question- Anyone here in the know of Nat King Cole. I heard a song of his on the radio station out of Vancouver (CBC 2) and they played a song called "Magic Song", or that could be "Magic" song. I looked up Nat and found no reference to this song in his music. Does anyone know what album this song may be from or the exact title of it? I know some of you may be to young to really like Nat, but I've got a thing for older music. Anyone?
