Lapping RTR tape heads and aligning them

I think I've found out the problem with my new/old Teac 3300S. There is a serious groove on the record and play heads. It's worse on the record head. I would like to lap the head if possible. I've never done this before and was wondering if anyone had some instructions on how to do this.

The alignment I think is off as well and since I'll be taking the heads off to lap them (hopefully) I'll then need to be able to align them. I've never aligned the heads on a RTR, any ideas on how to do this? I'm guessing I need a some kind of special tape with a tone and some kind of scope to do this. I have neither unfortunately.

Any help greatly appreciated.
