Good questions. As someone pointed out, crating/boxing/whatever a machine like these is a PITA. Even with insurance, you can get into disagreements with the buyer about this-or-that after they receive it. PITA again!
The big question is: Who would want it? Somebody who's got no money and no digital setup; or somebody who's got a bunch of old tapes they want to play but doesn't have a machine; or somebody who just wants it to fool around with or use it for parts; or...?
However you market it, make it clear that the buyer will have to pick it up. For the 40-4, you're looking at a max of two or three hundred dollars. I'm not quite sure on the Otari, but I'd be surprised if it brings more than about $600. For that kind of money, it isn't worth it to fool with shipping issues, unless you've got time on your hands.
