RE: How many tapes have you recorded?????

Mike, I have lost count, but over the last 25 or so years I guess I taped about the same number. I used that projection and stashed around 1500 tapes to last me till the end of my life. Hopefully, I will run out of them :-)

Many of the tapes I made 25 years ago are in very good technical condition. BUT. The mix tapes I made back then are assembled in a horrible manner - even if I like the contents, I do not like the order on tape. What I have been thinking back then, if at all. Actually this is a document how our musical taste evolves. Also, I feel that the time is passing faster now than I was 20.

I have transferred some of the tapes to the CD-R and then to my music server. They still sound awesome. What stuns me is the fact that some of the tapes were recorded on mid-fi decks (e.g. Technics 260) from mid-fi turntables.

I have one peculiarity- I use only C90, because 45 minutes per side is about the right amount of time to me.

You are right about the metals they are the best. Only, one needs really good analog front end to justify them, otherwise metal is waste of money.
