Many of the Mercury Living Presence recording were mastered with the Fairchild 126. This machine was made for the mo pic industry and would maintain synchronism with film but used 1/4" tape. To my knowledge only single track machines were made. Afterwards, Fairchild applied the basic transport to reading tapes recorded in Flight data recorders. The Loral company I understand bought the rights to the flight data recorders. Any information would be helpful. Thanks, Ray Hughes
