Question about High Speed rewind on Sony Deck?

My brother gave me a mint Sony KA1ES 3 Head cassette deck,this deck has the normal speed RW/FF and a high speed RW/FF option.My question is,will the high speed RW/FF put any undo wear and tear on the tapes or damage them in any way?When in high speed mode the deck does slow way down before getting to the end of the tape..Thanks for any help,Jon.
