Hi,
I just bought a Teac A-6010 tape deck and have trouble getting it to work. I know next to nothing about tapes technically, so forgive the layperson's explanation.
The deck is powered fine. Also without any reels in, the deck rolls fine in both directions and in fast mode. I noticed, however, that in play mode, both sides seem to roll, whereas in fast mode only one side rolls... is that the way in should be?
I have no sound coming out either, though it's hard to tell when it doesn't play... sometimes it does roll in play but not fast, then stops, as if something is creating friction. Maybe I do not thread it right. The stereo cable is connected and a click can be heard when I power the deck on/off, so my guess is the sound should go through (if there was any).
Anyway, perhaps some of the experts here can give me some tips. Much obliged.
