imho, both are good, I always like the TDK MA better (by a shade--more open high in Nakamichi 500 and 682ZX, Tandberg TCD 310 and Aiwa AD-F660, but many strong people here like the Maxell esp. for their durability.Actually, I use TDK MA-X, Sony Metal ES, Maxell MX-S and better than that if I can find them and they're $10.00 or so each.
