i've been looking to find a semi- current tape deck that can playback 4 track stereo and record 1/2 track on 1/4 inch tape. I know that the Technics rs1500 series and the otari 5050bx2 and the sony tc 76x series can do this. Does anyone out there know of any other machines that are configured this way? If so, what do you think of the sound? I am looking to find a deck that will be in line with the project that Doc.B is planning. Is there a Teac , ampex, revox,tandberg,ferrorgraph,etc with this 4 head configuration stock?If so, what do you think of the sound?
