I just tested recording via line inputs onto Maxell XLI 35-90B and it sounds suprisingly good, much better than I expected. Just a bit polite in the highs, which is not a bad thing to me and one of the reasons I got the decks in the first place.
Looks like I will be selling both 909s and a pair of spare reel motors Thursday - have a demo scheduled at my place.
One of the 909s has bent reel shafts - supposedly during shipping to me but I have no way to know if the seller scammed me and they were already bent. And I never got a penny refund because I was too damn busy at work to deal with it...
Hence the two replacement reel motors (still in boxes as shipped to me).
If the sale happens, I will be sad to see them go, but happy they are going to someone who will be personally using them (from all I can tell).
