Atlantic 3D-1 Modern Jazz Quartet "Fontessa" was Atlantic's very first 2-track stereo tape, issued in 1956. The stereo version of this album on vinyl has long been out of print, apparently due to a defective master that had a low-level hum and rolled-off bass. 3D-1 is now offered on ebay. I've had a stereo vinyl copy for years, but never listened to it until today. Sure enough, the hum is there and the bass response near-non-existent.
Was wondering if anyone here has a copy of 3D-1 and can let us know how the tape sounds.
