170 degrees is definitely too hot. The recommended range is 120 to 140. I bake at 130-133.

Have you tried putting the tape onto a different reel? If the reel is warped, and the tape periodically rubs on it, that will cause a squeak, which is essentially the reel and the tape vibrating.

It could also be that the tape is pinched or puckered. Look at a length of tape in the region where it squeaks. Is it normal, or does it have variations in its flatness? I don't think this is the problem, but have a look.

It could also be that the tape was not well-slit in manufacturing, and therefore is not straight, so even a diferent reel won't help.
